Getting
Service Started/Transferred
Starting, stopping or
transferring service can usually be done by the following business day after
application is made. To begin service we require your full name, complete
address, picture identification, place of employment, home and work telephone
numbers, social security number, a lease agreement (for rental property) and
closing documents for owners. There is a non-refundable $15.00 connect fee for
new or transferred service. This will be billed on your first bill.
New
Construction Service
To set up service for
new construction may take 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather and other conditions.
You will need to provide a notarized right-of-way easement for new service.
Additional charges may also be required.
Security
Deposits/Fees
New DES customers are
required to pay a security deposit. We accept cash, money orders and checks. We
do not accept debit or credit cards. A credit check is performed to determine
the amount. Standard deposit for superior credit is $75.00, satisfactory credit
is $150.00 and unsatisfactory is $200.00.

Payment
Methods
Customers can pay by
cash, check or money order. We do not accept credit or debit cards in the
office. They are accepted on our Web Site or by calling 1-866-270-9915, but are
required to pay the bill in full. In addition we offer Automatic Withdrawal and
Levelized Billing.
Reconnect
Policy
During normal working
hours 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday, customers may come into the DES offices
and pay to be reconnected, or they may pay the serviceman in the field until
9:30 PM.
Reporting
Outages
To report
service outages after business hours call 615-446-9051. A dispatcher will be
available to take your calls Monday thru Friday until midnight. On weekends
7:00 AM - 11:00 PM.
